It's just a bad deal all around unless you wanted the console and your PS3 or Xbox 360 were actually worth less than $100 (which they aren't) as far as the best models are concerned. Granted you wouldn't be able to get that type of trade in value from GameStop, but you have other options if you are just that desperate to get rid of your console.
As a gamer that doesn't believe in getting rid of my consoles and games, I wouldn't do it... but to each their own. It's a smart tactic to woo those willing to make that mistake though, and I consider it a mistake because there aren't that many games available just yet and you can't play your existing library on that console. Best wishes to all those who choose to participate though because at the end of the day it's still your choice.
What's funny about this is that you can keep your current system, and buy a Wii U or a PS4. Soooo... the incentive still doesn't do much in my opinion, and some would rather they just remove the kinect and sell it for $400. I know someone that gets pissed off about that every time someone mentions the console because he would like to get one, but refuses to get it with the kinect that he doesn't want (he may be waiting for awhile, but who knows... and there should be more games by then).
This isn't for the sake of knocking the XB1 more so than it is a post for everyone possibly considering this... to think hard about it if you think you'd regret ditching your console. If you are like some gamers that sell, and repurchase consoles... that's a lot of money being wasted when you could simply collect and benefit from the perks of having various consoles. The word for today is... "Options".
