Microsoft didn't save Tomb Raider 2, but this game could increase the sales of the Xbox One

"Oh $#*/!" -Lara |
You have to remember that Bayonetta 2 wasn't going to see the light of day... until Nintendo stepped in. Microsoft gave Square-Enix what they wanted... money, it has nothing to do with them saving the game from failure because the other game didn't sale horribly (but it wasn't good enough based on Square Enix's internal sales expectations). So no matter what (Darrell Gallagher) the head of Crystal Dynamics has to say to the fans... it was about the money. They could've delivered the game to both the PS4, PC, and even the Wii U also (though that would be a shot in the dark while blind folded and pissy drunk)... they weren't thinking about that though.
The re-release of Tomb Raider (aka the definitive edition)... along with the release of Lara Croft & The Temple of Osiris, are (hmmmm... ahhh yes) NOT good enough scapegoats to equal... "We're cool right?".
If you want it though (I mean... really really want the game on release day)... get an Xbox One, or hold off in hopes that its just some sort of timed exclusive their being hush hush about just to make it appear to seem like some sort of exclusive. Microsoft was so determined to showcase games that were only coming to Xbox One... there was literally a game shown only for Xbox One & PC, in the same presentation that they would only have it for the exclusives and it was said in a similar way to still keep Xbox One the focus (they are being competitive though). If you don't want to get an Xbox One... that's a sale they'll lose based on it being an exclusive (even though it sounds bad, and it would be the lesser of 2 evils... i'd rather this, than a heavy amount of the game missing because GameStop wanted pre-order sales). While that fact is also true of Bayonetta 2 being an exclusive, they didn't end up exclusives based on similar circumstances (unless there's something we don't know).
If you get an Xbox One... go with a bundle like the SunSet Overdrive Bundle... that includes the game at no extra charge.
