Nintendo apologizes for Tomodachi Life... and aims to be more mindful the next go round.

There were some upset thinking that Nintendo attacked or made fun of the LGBT community, but that wasn't the case at all. It was about something else all together, so we had to chime in on this situation involving "Tomodachi Life" and it not including LGBT relationships. This isn't Nintendo-Demand standing against the LGBT gamers and people in the LGBT community, but should anyone catch heat about something that didn't come to mind for their game? I'd personally say "No" (multiply that by 2 for not doing something mean spirited)... but I understand that a game of this type would leave some wanting such an option, and if Nintendo told the LGBT community to take a hike... that would be a thumbs down (from us), but that wasn't the case (BUT... as you see a big enough demand will gain the right attention, so speak out and see what happens). If they can add a patch... I think they'd do it, but check out the message they issued yesterday:

Nintendo is Committed to Fun and Entertainment for Everyone

Redmond, Wash. -- We apologize for disappointing many people by failing to include same-sex relationships in Tomodachi Life. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to change this game’s design, and such a significant development change can’t be accomplished with a post-ship patch. At Nintendo, dedication has always meant going beyond the games to promote a sense of community, and to share a spirit of fun and joy. We are committed to advancing our longtime company values of fun and entertainment for everyone. We pledge that if we create a next installment in the Tomodachi series, we will strive to design a game-play experience from the ground up that is more inclusive, and better represents all players.
-- Nintendo of America

Knowing this... its a personal call for all gamers who wanted LGBT love in this game to support it or not, because money talks (perhaps they can have a special edition of the game on eShop with that option or just change the eShop version). Game on!
