Accidentally burning my popcorn was well worth the conversation I had today about a concept for a potential Resident Evil game.

Accidentally burning my popcorn was well worth the conversation I had today about a concept for a potential Resident Evil game.

Capcom is trying to stabilize, and they need to (ALWAYS) keep in mind that Resident Evil is a survival horror game that should remain in that genre... versus trying to capture those seeking something else (i.e. COD). I would like to believe they learned their lesson... somewhat (BUT... seeing is believing), and even though an RE7 would likely follow the RE4: Ultimate HD Edition set for release in Feb. 2014 (before any other), the concept a little birdie told me about... should really be considered.

There are various things that can be done within the genre that remain within the Resident Evil universe... and what I heard today (well technically yesterday since i'm posting this early in the AM) would make for a FANtastic Resident Evil title. I can't say anything that would breach confidentiality... but the concept by a non-Capcom developer would likely receive a similar reception to RE: Revelations... or even bigger (based on the props that Revelations got). I wanted to say... something about it, especially since it sounds like it would be killer on Nintendo platforms (without saying too much).

What sucks is that Capcom has been burned (like Megaman/Rockman fans) working with external studios... but this desired approach to work with Capcom's team to mold an RE title could work well.

If they don't consider the developers proposal... it still has the potential of being an indie title. Some indie developers have awesome concepts, but limited resources that prevent them from working on bigger titles (hence Kickstarters)... but i'd really like this to see the light of day (they feel that it would work well for Resident Evil, I don't even think Phoenix Wright would object to it). I will keep you posted if anything comes of this.

Can I be anymore vague without saying too much? lol Overall, I thought i'd say something about it because it got me excited, and took me back to the late 90's (when WCW and the NWO were a big part of my entertainment lineup). Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttt!!!!

Seeing is definitely believing. When we initially heard about the fashion magazines, and the audience getting "old", it was definitely a concern (as mentioned in an earlier post... they weren't the only developer believing that we've lost interest). We didn't just fall off the planet, we grew up, have jobs, and buy our own games versus waiting on our parents to buy them. So that assumption is dumb one... they need to reach out to the people, and not companies that focus on data alone. Perhaps that what happened to MegaMan Legends 3.

If they want to do something like sell the various clothing from the RE universe... They can have at it, but that should never be considered the target market for the games (leave it at fashion, get some advertisement out of it in the blank spaces for the games and stuff, but seek the core audience elsewhere).

RE1's remake would've received more attention as a multiplatform release also. RE4 was a later installment so they wanted to push it, but they overlooked why RE1's remake was praised... while taking the later installments in the wrong direction because they wanted to evolve RE thinking more action would gain more profit (because RE4 had some welcomed additions).

The concept in the initial post... should definitely be considered, but its funny that you mention FPS, because we discussed RE Survivor and Outbreak as FPS games in the past (and Operation Racoon City emerged). I'd put an FPS on hold to get my hands on the other game though (though still a concept).

Anyone that wants these games to be considered... should definitely contact Capcom! ...Demand it (feel free to share the post also). I will be doing the same, in the mean time... game on!
