E3 2015... The Good, The Bad, The WTF!

E3 2015 is over... but we're just getting started!
Hop over to SDGT Studio Patreon for exclusive posts too!

Now that E3 is over... expect content on content in this growing post (and if you'd like to hear thoughts about a specific game, use the comment section below). We don't just spew news... so for those new to Nintendo-Demand, expect what we are known for. It probably doesn't make sense... but when something is from the source... you'll know, when its not, it might sound a little... (hmmm, what's the word... ahh yes) unorthodox.

Don't forget to hit that +1 button... it let's us know that "Hey, I like this!".
This will be a growing post, so stay tuned!

Revisions coming soon to the SDGT Studio Patreon because... the great minds over at Patreon want to help it really deliver on Nintendo-Demand and original SDGT Studio content (not sure when the bell will sound... but the show must go on!). Will Little Bear reveal himself? Maybe. No wait... that kinda sounds wrong... I mean be more present as we move forward. ;)

There is an update that's... a bit more than just the SDGT Studio Patreon update. Some of you know what i'm talking about... but that will be in a newer post, since it wasn't during E3 2015's period.

Update: I (personally) won't say its set in stone... but Little Bear wants to be a bit more active, specifically for (almost everything related to) Xbox News. I saw this coming. :p

After hearing from Michael of Coldwood Interactive today, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to talk about Martin's performance at E3 2015. He did a phenomenal job (in light of what appeared to be nervousness), especially for his first time at E3. He really revealed the passion he has a game developer.

Martin told Michael who told BFG (haha) that... he "...wasn't really that uncomfortable on stage - he actually loved it and wanted it to last forever. But yes, his (and our) passion for the game really did shine through."

I'm not going to argue with that... but I will say that we'd really like the chance to review this game on Nintendo-Demand, and... if EA gives us the green light, you'll know about it! :p

Speaking of Green Lights, we were contacted a few days ago by another team (Over Curfew Games) with an interesting game that's currently on Steam's Greenlight, titled "Tidal Affair: Before The Storm".

If it's a game that you'd like to see released on Steam... place your vote, and based on the recent contact... it's a good chance that we'll be reviewing the game before it's final release. It reminds me of the first Fallout games based on that top down side view and strategic gameplay.

Since posting the link... the game has been green lighted!: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=454840646

One of the bigger... not so big reveals from Xbox was... the Xbox One backwards compatibility.
What's annoying about this... is that while it's good news and increases the reason to transition, it should've been that way from the start (even if it didn't have to be). If you think about it, it's something that's here now... thanks in part to all who boycotted (because without the ability to have used games... you can forget about 360 games being played from their disc). I won't get into the past drama, and it's cool that it's now available... but E3 worthy... I wasn't so sure of. I welcome the update, it just would've been great to hear about another new game in place of this E3 2015 announcement.

They needed to make the big announcement though to reach the large number of remaining Xbox 360 gamers. After things changed with the allowances of the Xbox One... it wouldn't have mattered either way if a game were a used Xbox One or Xbox 360 title. Accepting the games from the 360 means the increased possibility of 360 owners purchasing the newer console... and new releases, sooo it's more of a win than a loss. So I hope they keep the cooler moves coming.

They really have to keep this ball rolling with the pending release of the Windows 10 OS too... and not make it into Windows 10 the AD OS, or it will send many users running back to Windows 7 or 8.1. The update is coming... to download or not to download, that is the question.

I really do expect big things from Halo 5, you can't put energy into creating a motion picture backstory to introduce a new protagonist only to have it turn out un-epic. Horrible that would be, and the presentation at this E3 reminded me of Halo 4 with a bit more of a storyline. Not saying its going to be a dud... I just hope not, and may it prove to be a lot more memorable than part 4. The games that were most memorable for me were...

Halo Evolved (loved it, and got multiple non-gamers hooked on it) we use to play on laptops for hours on end. The story and the online play kept me coming back.

Halo 3 had a strong story (for me at least) and... was enjoyable from beginning to end. I wanted to see it through entirely, which is something I wanted to experience in part 4... but it didn't feel as in depth for me. It was cool, but I don't remember it (I think I will play it again... just because). I think its cool that you're able to now enjoy most of the past games in one title though, and it would've been awesome if the story were progressive based on game saves the way Shenmue was set up to be. It has it's own identity though, and I can respect that... but that would be a good demand.

Speaking of Shenmue... the developer mooorrreee than exceeded the KickStarter goal. They more than doubled it, and the time seen in this image shows that they still have time left on the clock to get more. The guesstimated date of release will be Dec. 2017... and we have no idea of how much the final version will cost (as long as they do not lose their minds), but if you want to put in on the game now at the lowest amount... there is a $30 option.

I can't so "Go back Shenmue 3", but if you want to reserve a copy of a game that's been highly anticipated for years... this is your chance to get it at a price that should be lower than retail (or digital release).

We all feel confident that they will tie in the first 2 games in this version by way of the story... without crossing the scope of Sega's copyright rifle so that no one is left wonder what happened in the past. We just feel confident of it... we don't know anything. ;)

END logoThis E3... (phew), it felt like a birthday and I got everything I wanted... along with mind blowing things I didn't expect. Shenmue 3 was obviously one of those things that made me sound off before going full on geek mode, but... then Final Fantasy 7's reveal (omg man). Just awesome announcements... and knowing that Just Cause 3 is on the horizon, it will be hard not to log long hours running a muck while taking down another... evil leader (and crush them like the roach they are).

Gwahahahahaaa Ahh... got a little carried away there, where were? Oh yeah... there were just multiple games that I look forward to getting into, but these 3 games are on my wish list. I'm glad they aren't all coming out at the same time.

I think the Final Fantasy 7 remake will please... but I hope they didn't announce it only to push it back year after year... after year. I hope Final Fantasy 8 gets new life, along with a true remake of Parasite Eve. If Tomb Raider can be transformed into what it is today... I know PE can get justice, because the world was huge, there was a lot too it and more can be done with the depth of that world with modern technology.

The announcement for EA's Access at $5/month... seems like it could be... okay, but consider that you are paying the Xbox Live fee also. I still can't frown at it (and some of you may gasp at that) because there are multiple other monthly services... and if they do it right and actually allow people to enjoy games at a monthly fee that they don't have to buy, it works. What they should do with that though is... give EA Access users access to the Star Wars Battlefront multiplayer, so then there will be multiple people to play with. There is something that could piggy back that sentence, but... I'll leave it alone (for now).

Battlefront 3 completely missed the last generation of platforms... and its a good thing. I hope that they do not have any annual ambitions with this franchise, the focus should be around building the experience of the game for the community making it a game worthy of playing year after year. A game that when it's said and done... it will have a huge audience that looks forward to the next installment in about 3 year or so... and they're able to move forward with their data. That prevents a game from losing steam as quickly, because gamers will then be able to get a game their friends have... and be able to fully enjoy that game before a new version comes out and the community goes to the next installment. The people unable to bounce from installment to installment will at times just given up because keeping up... can be tiresome.

While i'm at it... the sports games should have a 2 year life span. Release a version retail/digitally one year... and then the following year provide an update for the roster. You are not giving the games enough room (in my opinion), and it's hard to find a reason why a sports game should be purchased year after year if they are not breaking new ground each time. I'd expect it to be hard to break new ground year after year... but noticeable updates can be made in 2 years, and more work could be invested in 2 year developments by simply updating the rosters.

There are gamers that pick up a sports game every few years. Why? They got to the point where... it didn't feel as if they were missing anything by skipping a year or 2. Fans of sports games... may or may not appreciate this, but I think its a good idea.
