Toadette enters the party! + The truth will set you free @ EA + Free Games!

It's Friday... time has been flying by, but guess what... it's Nintendo-Demand time!

3DS users (with access to wireless internet)... there is an update awaiting you! One that finally gives 3DS handheld gamers access to custom themes! I think it's cool that they are giving us the option... and thumbs up for at least making the basic color options free, but they all should be free in my opinion. Like seriously... Nintendo (wth?), take notes out of Sony's handbook on this one and give us the option to customize the themes free. That would be yet another incentive to buy the 3DS, and the money spent on themes could instead be saved to buy games.

One thing that's cool about the themes that are for sale though, are the fact that they have their own theme music and some are even animated... like the "NES: Jumping Mario". The "Mario: Wood-Burned Characters" theme is beautiful... but I wish we could see them up close in a fully set preview mode as to the way they could appear on our 3DS's. They range in price, so if you aren't interested in the basic colors, they have some patterns for $0.99 and character themes for $1.99. I hope they remain at $1.99 at the highest, because they are wallpapers after all.

Nintendo contacted us this morning with the news that Toadette was going to be in the upcoming Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Wii U) adventure. They mentioned that she will be playable in portions of the upcoming game, which I think she should just be playable throughout the entire game... but at least she's in there.

Another awesome bit of news about this game is that it will be available for $39.99. There absolutely needs to be those mid-priced games... because it increases flexibility when it comes to the pockets. Regardless of the price though... I don't think this is going to be a mid-sized game, especially with over 70 levels within this nifty looking puzzle adventure.
Anyone up for a Double Cherry?
Grandmother, those are some mighty big claws you have. The better to do what?... Oh hell no!
There would be a nice balance with games of various sizes, and we hope to see more of them.

We like what we hear, David, but showing is proving
You have a right to remain pwned!
I was so happy to hear David Sirland mention that the audience's faith in the Battlefield series took a hit when it comes to Battlefield 4. We could careless what the delusional fanboys & girls say, because fanboys & girls (in some cases)... won't be enough to keep a franchise alive.

The game basically came out in beta mode, and it wasn't cool. we've spoken about it on multiple occasions... and have spoken with pissed off gamers that have purchased XBLG to play the game only to hit a wall of problems.

David Sirland's comments (made to GameSpot)... was a much appreciated backhand slap to Blake Jorgensen's comment (EA's CFO) who told investors that crap about the publisher not seeing any damages to the brand based on Battlefield 4's issues. We were pissed that such a thing would be said in the first place, just look back on one of our previous posts... speaking on the audacity. All those that disapproved of how that game was released... don't want to hear about how they weren't harmed by a game released in a pitiful condition, what the hell is that? (Y'know?)

So we're glad he said that, because in the long wrong the slop would also harm them when more and more people grow tired of eating it. I spoke to a gamer this past Sunday (game on, LittleBear!)... and he said that if EA actually took pride in their ____ games, he'd give Battlefield a chance.

I know Sirland is trying to regain faith so that the Battlefield Hardline game isn't met with skepticism, but it seems (SEEMS) to be approached the right way this time. They're actually making use of user feedback and even pushed the game back... instead of rushing the development team to get something out (which isn't good for long term business). I don't know if somethings said were said for the sake of them simply being heard... like "...our community is much smarter than we probably give them credit for", but if its true acknowledgement we look forward to seeing the results.

Speaking of EA, for all you PC players in the house... if you want Dragon Age: Origins and/or Bejeweled 3, they're available for a limited time free on Origin. So get your hands on them while the getting is good, and at worse... if you don't like those sort of games, at least they were free.

The IndieCade Festival weekend!

If you're in... near... or willing to go to Culver City, CA this weekend (Oct. 9th - 12th, 2014), try to get in on some IndieCade action. Nintendo will be there... as well as Sony, etc. in support of upcoming indie games on their respective platforms. Nintendo will be getting the upcoming Costume Quest 2 on the Wii U (listed for an Oct. 2014 release)... and hopefully we'll get to see a consume quest game on the 3DS one of these days. I played the first one on Xbox Live Arcade... and found it to be a fun game that put me in the spirit of Halloween, in addition to it being an unusual RPG.

Game on, its the weekend... and if you're able to kickback and enjoy some of your favorite titles in addition to some delicious eats, take advantage!
