Jumping to the next chapter risks subtracting appreciation of the first (and I say this for a reason... to those upset). Would it sound mean if I felt that a sequel should be out in at least 2+ years... after the first game has received a crap load of additional content (not to be confused with subtracted content for DLC purposes) until they've given the game all the attention they could give? I don't think it would be bad at all.
Going such a route would be fantastic for such a game, they should avoid annual versions at all cost as they build onto the current full retail version. Even if this means PS4 owners get a version later on... it also could increase the confidence and praise that the 2nd installment would be worth it if the first gets a lot of love... versus a lot of greed.
I hope EA keeps out of Respawn's way (I really do), because they concern me... it doesn't matter if the reputation of the Battlefield franchise goes undamaged despite the ongoing technical problems in BF4 (according to EA CFO Blake Jorgensen), the focus NEEDS to be on making sure that this doesn't happen again. Again, you're making a living on people buying these products at full retail prices... these aren't bootleg copies of your game sold at a dirt cheap price (at the risk of being crappy). So rep talk doesn't matter more so than getting the job done for those that keep you employed.
Anyway... enjoy this cool fan art from graffitibox1143 of Japan!
